IT & Tech Careers Any idea what I can do to correct this issue without re-imaging hundreds of PCs? Machines that were fresh installs of 10 do not do this. This only affects machines that were upgraded to 10 from 7. I can't really find anyone else with this exact same issue. Why is the password box there but Windows isn't displaying it? I've been scouring Google like crazy on this one and have come up with nothing since searching for this problem pulls up tons of articles about people wanting a solid color log on screen or people who have a picture displayed but no password prompt. Most users don't understand that they have to hold the power button in for a long time to actually shut the machine down however so they are angry that "forcing a restart" isn't working since they aren't really restarting it due to not holding the power button in long enough. Also, forcing the computer to shut down and restart temporarily fixes the problem as well. So the password box is actually there but Windows isn't displaying it. However if you blindly type your password in and hit enter it will log you in. There is no prompt for username or password. Pressing ctrl alt del will just bring up a solid color screen (the color will be whatever the user has chosen as their accent color in Windows so most of the time this screen is just solid blue since that's the default accent color). These machines will occasionally not display the password box. On any machines that underwent an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 we have an intermittent issue with log in prompts.
